Sleep Improved, Fatigue Abated with help of Naturopath
October 8, 2007 | 1 Comment
I was not sleeping well, was depressed and fatigued. I visited Dr. Beim and she suggested two lab tests to determine the cause of my problems. The tests revealed that I had an extremely low testosterone levels, high levels of aluminum, and several mineral deficiencies, which accounted for many of my symptoms. I chose to pursue an aggressive protocol of oral chelation, hormone replacement therapy, and a few miscellaneous supplements to assist with stabilizing my blood sugar. I have been taking the supplements and the Hormone Replacement Therapy for approximately 8 weeks. My sleep has improved, the fatigue has abated and I have a better outlook on life. My life has changed and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Beim.

Vegetarian Finds New Vitality
October 8, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Before I started working with Alex, I was tired. I had no energy. I also felt frustrated. I was not sleeping well. I felt, having been a Vegetarian for over 20 years, I knew how to eat - wrong! I was not making proper food choices. I would eat Vegetarian, but not wholesome, healthy choices.
What an easy transition to make these changes in my eating and lifestyle pattern. With Alex’s expertise in introducing me to many food options, I had no problem expanding my Vegetarian diet to include whole grains and a plethera of other healthy food choices. What really impressed me was how we should eat like the seasons. Lighter foods during the hot summer months and heavier foods during the colder, winter months.
The results were amazing! My energy level immediately started to soar. I became more in-tune with my body’s demands for whole foods, not junk. Even before Alex would call me I would crave a certain food (whole, nutritious) and I was constantly amazed at how she knew what I would experience, feel and demand. I started to sleep better. My weight also started to change. I have slowly, which is better that fast, lost approximately 15 pounds since working with Alex for these past six months I have decided to become Vegan and my energy level is great.
I feel anyone that wishes to better their lifestyle be it through nutrition or body and soul, should definitely sign up with Alex. You don’t need to be a Vegan or a Vegetarian. I was totally impressed with her knowledge. Any time I have had a question, she immediately had an answer or a suggestion for me. She has introduced me to another level of thinking, cooking, learning and realizing that my body is a machine that needs to be fed properly in order to function. Not only do I have this knowledge, but I now am sharing this with my family and friends.

I Overcame Sugar Addiction
October 8, 2007 | Leave a Comment
I grew up as a sugar addict and stayed that way well into my mid twenties. I would be on a constant roller coaster of energy highs and lows and always resorting to something sweet to give me a boost again. I was shopping once and ran into my aunt and had so little energy and such brain fog that I could barely engage in conversation with her. I began to learn about sugar and how it affects your blood sugar levels and what it does and began to slowly change my diet. I started to incorporate more healthy sweet foods like figs, sweet potatoes, yogurt with honey and almonds, etc, to satisfy my desire for sweets. Since making that lifestyle and dietary change, I crave sweets less. I removed soda and other drinks sweetened with high fructose corn syrup completely. My drink is water, and that’s really all I crave. My energy levels are much more stable now and I don’t have the brain fog and mood swings associated with sugar anymore. It’s truly amazing how making small, simple changes in your diet can have huge benefits for your health.

Anemia Overcome with Dietary Changes
October 8, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Another experience I can share with you is the fact that I was anemic for most of my life from a teenager into my late twenties. Iron pills prescribed by my doctor didn’t elevate my hemoglobin levels so I found a natural remedy. I simply started eating more leafy green vegetables (mostly raw spinach salads) and I’m no longer anemic. Like I said, it’s truly amazing how simple changes can make such a big difference in your overall health.
